Oak Knoll School

Parent Volunteer Opportunities

  • Along with the amazing teachers and staff at Oak Knoll, it is involved and engaged families that really make our school and community so special. Each year parents, grandparents, and friends of our school, volunteer over 4,000 hours in the classroom, in the library, on the playgrounds, on field trips, at community building events, serving hot lunch, coaching sports teams, and so on. Families truly become an integral part of the Oak Knoll community, and every hour a parent spends supporting the school, student, and programs.

Please make sure to sign in to the office and wear a School Visitor badge while volunteering at Oak Knoll. This is a safety precaution and we appreciate your support.

    PTO Committees

Check out the list of PTO Committees that you can join or volunteer to help with. Please contact the relevant committee chair(s) if you are interested in getting involved.

You can reach out to the PTO Committee Chairs at any time to learn about the different committees and events, and sign up for volunteer opportunities. Also, you can contact your Room Parents for opportunities to help with your class in the classroom, at parties, and on field trips and other events.

    Other Volunteers Needed Now!

    Hot Lunch:

Want to earn free lunches? Meet fellow Oak Knoll parents? Say hello to your child at lunchtime? Hot lunch is a great place to offer your time! To offer hot lunch to our students, we rely solely on parent volunteers to serve lunches. Volunteer as frequently as you would like throughout the year, no experience necessary, no cooking, simply help distribute pre-ordered hot and cold lunches from Lunch Master (our exciting new lunch provider) and earn credits toward free lunches for your child(ren) for each shift worked. The more you volunteer, the more free lunches you get! Please contact oakknolllunch@gmail.com for more information.

In addition, we are urgently looking for a lunchtime weekly lead for Tuesdays to help manage that crew of volunteers 11:10am-12:15 pm (the other days of the week are covered with a lead in place). If you are interested, please contact Mina Kent.

    After School Programs:

Each season, the After School Program offers a myriad of different classes to the Oak Knoll students each school day, from tennis to art, chess to football, and cooking to acting. The current 2 experienced leads of the After School Program team are looking for a third team member who could help a little and learn this year and take more of a lead role next year. If you are interested, please contact Alison Buchanan or Lindsey Hutchinson.

Parents, come help out in our wonderful library! Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks such as helping check books in and out, shelving books, helping students find books, pulling books on topics for teachers. Training is quick and easy. Volunteer as often as you like and you will be scheduled for the time slot corresponding to your child's library class. If you are interested, please contact Noelle Carpenter for more information.

    Coffee Cart:

Coffee Cart is a fun and easy volunteer opportunity anyone can do. Sign up to drop off baked goods (homemade or store-bought), a small flower arrangement, or stay to help us delivery coffee to Oak Knoll's amazing teachers and support staff! There is one coffee cart day per month - feel free to sign up for one or more depending on your schedule. Drop off treats in the Teachers' Lounge between 7:00 to 7:30 AM the morning of, or at Julia Dunn's or Andrea Potischman's house the night before. Volunteers are also needed to stay and help us deliver coffee to teachers in the classrooms. Help us say thank you to those who do so much for our children each and every day. If interested, please contact Julia Dunn or Andrea Potischman.

Room Parents for 2016-2017 School Year:
