•  Charea Batiste

Hello, I'm Charea Bustamante (formerly Batiste) and this is my sixth year at Hillview teaching seventh grade language arts (ELA 7) for Mavericks Academy. Previously, I taught seventh and eighth grade language arts at San Benancio Middle School in Salinas, California for nine wonderful years. In 2008, I was one of nine recipients honored to receive the county-wide Harden Teaching Excellence Award. I cannot believe I am now in my fifteenth year of teaching!

For my undergraduate years, I attended CSU Monterey Bay, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Human Communication, English emphasis and my Single Subject Teaching Credential in English. Later, I received my Master of Education, with an emphasis in Curriculum & Instruction from the American College of Education. Currently, I am enrolled at Concordia University for the Doctor of Education, Teacher Leadership program. I plan on receiving my Ed.D. in 2020. As you can see, I love education!

Teaching is my passion, as I love imparting knowledge to my students, but also learning from them as well. Please know that your children are in good hands. I hope they will gain a tremendous amount of knowledge and skill by being in my class, and I also hope they enjoy learning in the process. If you need to contact me, I am best reached by email at, or secondly by phone at (650) 326-4341 x2312. Let's look forward to a great year!
