• Pesticide Use Reporting/Integrated Pest Management


    The Healthy School Act of 2000 with new amendments made in 2015, requires that all schools provide parents and staff members with annual written notification of expected pesticide use on school sites. Menlo Park City School District has developed an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Plan that relies on long term pest prevention methods and limits the use of pesticides. The IPM program begins with education, habitat management, and alteration of maintenance activities, followed by physical, biological, and then chemical control. We’re happy to report that for 2016 and 2017 the District did not apply any pesticides in landscaping areas or school buildings.

    Upcomming Pesticide Usage - Laurel School Lower Campus

    The District plans to utilize the pesticide Pyrethrum at Laurel School Lower Campus on April 10, 2018 to deal with Western Tussock Moth Larvae situation that became a particular concern last school year. Parents who have expressed an interest in receiving notification regarding pesticide use have been sent the letter below, and the same notification is being circulated to all parents at Laurel School Lower Campus. There will also be postings onsite 24 hours prior to application and for 72 hours after. Please see links below for more information.
