• One of the ways to get involved with your school district is to serve on a School Board or Superintendent's Advisory Committee. These committees organize around specific topics and either advise the Board, or the Superintendent directly. Currently, the Finance and Audit Committee has one open position, and Superintendent Burmeister is forming an advisory committee around the development of our fully funded guidelines.

    Advisory Committee on Full Funding
Superintendent Erik Burmeister is seeking parent and community members for a Superintendent's Advisory Committee. The Committee, known as the Full Funding Advisory Committee, will meet 4-6 times this fall and winter to provide input on the development of a definition of "full funding" for MPCSD. As a Community Funded district which relies on parcel taxes and foundation giving for one-quarter of its budget, it is essential that we be able to define what we believe "fully funded" means when it comes to our children's education. Having this benchmark will better enable us to characterize whether or not we have the funding to achieve our targets. If you have a baseline understanding of our district's funding sources/challenges and are interested in participating in this committee, please email Superintendent Burmeister at eburmeister@mpcsd.org for more information. The deadline to communicate your interest is Tuesday, October 9, 2018.

The Committee can review and analyze multi-year projection assumptions, can provide input on strategic decisions regarding fiscal health i.e. bonding decisions, long-term economic uncertainty reserve, retiree actuarial report, etc., and on an annual basis, review the audit with an independent auditor.
