MPCSD Board Seat Vacancy

  • The MPCSD School Board voted on August 29, 2019 to fill its open seat by appointment. MPCSD now calls for applicants to fill the open Board seat per California law. Application packets are available at the District Office and are due back to the no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2019. An Information Night will be held Monday, September 9, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the District Office Board Room, located at 181 Encinal Avenue, Atherton. Attendance at the Information Night is not a requirement to apply for appointment. Candidate interviews and appointment will occur at a Special Board meeting on Monday, September 23 at 6:00 p.m. in the District Office Board room.     ELIGIBILITY

    Education Code requires that individuals who serve on the Board of Education must be 18 years of age or older, a U.S. citizen, a resident of the school district, a registered voter, and not disqualified by the Constitution or laws of the state from holding a civil office. Furthermore, an individual cannot be a current employee of the District.

     

    APPLICATION

    Applications are now available at the District Office, 181 Encinal Avenue, Atherton, and are due back to the District Office no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2019. The District Office is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

    • Approval of process to fill Board seat vacated by Caroline Lucas (official date of resignation, August 1)
    • Vacant Board seat term ends December 2020
    • Board voted unanimously to fill open seat by appointment

     

    August 30, 2019       Superintendent Released Press Release

    • Summarize Board actions at the August 29 Board meeting
    • Announce application available at the District Office on Tuesday, September 3 at noon
    • Announce upcoming meetings:
      • Candidate Information Night: September 9, 7:00-8:30 p.m.
      • Candidate Interviews and Appointment: September 23, begins at 6:00 p.m.

    September 23, 2019   Special Board meeting: Candidate Interviews & Appointment

    • Interviews will begin at 6:00 p.m.
    • Held at the District Office TERC Building, 181 Encinal Avenue, Atherton
    • Entire selection process conducted in Open Session; public comment taken before final vote
    • Board deliberates and votes to appointment a member of the community to serve as a Member of the MPCSD Board of Education for a term ending December 2020
    • Oath of Office for newly appointed Board member
