    The Student Services Department support students and staff by providing Health Services, 504 Accommodation Plans, and Special Education Services. The members of the Student Services Department, including our Preschool Specialist, K-8 Learning Specialists, School Nurses, School Psychologists, Speech-Language Specialists, Occupational Therapists, School Counselors, Health Services Assistant, Student Services Project Coordinator and Special Education Paraeducators collaborate with our general education teachers, specialists, school administrators and district staff to support our students and families.

    Health and Wellness Services
     

    Our Health and Wellness Services web pages contain information about current health issues. You can find the District Health forms and information about the complex work that our School Nurses do to ensure that the healthcare needs of our students are met on a daily basis. The pages include many links to information related to student health and well-being. Each of our school sites has a counselor and school psychologist dedicated to meeting the social, emotional and mental health needs of our students.

     Section 504 Accommodation Plans
     

    Our Section 504 Accommodation Plans web pages contain an overview of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The pages also include copies of the Section 504 form that we use in the District, Section 504 FAQs and 504 Procedural Safeguards. You will also find a list of the District’s Section 504 School Coordinators. We encourage you to pursue the Student Services Department web pages, as we believe you will find them to be a valuable resource.

    The Menlo Park City School District is committed to providing a Free Appropriate  Public Education for eligible preschoolers and school-age students in the Least  Restrictive Environment to meet each student’s individual needs. The District special education program is operated consistent with federal and state laws and regulations. These laws and regulations require the District to locate, assess and identify all students within the District from 3 years to 21 years of age who may have disabilities and then provide appropriate placements and/or related services to those who are eligible for special education. Special education is provided to students based upon the individual needs of the student and the recommendations of the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) team. The IEP team develops an IEP, a legal document that describes the services that the MPCSD will provide for each student who is eligible for special education.
     
    The delivery of special education services in the MPCSD is described in the San Mateo County Special Education Local Plan Area.

    Student Services Lending Library
     

    We have developed a Lending Library for staff and parents that currently includes over 300 books and DVDs related to disabilities, health issues, parenting and best practices in education. Our library includes selected materials in Spanish.
