Interactive Financial & Performance Data

Menlo Park City School District, in partnership with OpenGov, offers an interactive tool for viewing District revenues and expenditures. Using the same financial data submitted to the Board and the State, the platform presents information from the current year back to 2005/06 in easy-to-understand graphs with downloadable options. OpenGov enhances transparency by allowing users to explore data with filters, drill-downs, and annotations. Reports are aligned with state reporting standards and are also available through Board agendas and the District’s Annual Budget page.

Financial Overview

With approximately 400 employees across five campuses, the District operates on an annual budget of about $77 million for the 2025-26 school year. Roughly $68.5 million is funded through local sources, including property taxes, parcel taxes, the Menlo Park-Atherton Education Foundation, and other community donations, making MPCSD truly a community-funded district. Only a small portion of funding comes from state and federal sources. The OpenGov reports below provide both current and historical financial data. At each reporting period, the District is required to project revenues and expenditures for at least two future years. The District’s reserve levels are projected to remain aligned with Board policy through the 2025-26 fiscal year. Three of the four parcel taxes are evergreen, while Measure B (2021), passed on November 2, 2021, is set to expire on June 30, 2034. The District will need to closely monitor its multi-year projections and determine the appropriate time to renew or expand this parcel tax to sustain its high-quality, world-class educational programs.
