Menlo Park City School District believes in the potential of the whole child, having talents and strengths beyond their academics. We have an opportunity to harness the energy and talents of all students across the district by developing a district-wide Theater Program as an essential part of a well-rounded education experience. Through theater, students can build their self-esteem, confidence, collaboration, communication skills, and more. A theater program also has the potential to involve other aspects of performing arts, such as dance, music, and arts, in which we have existing programs to support a new theater program.
Currently, MPCSD students can participate in drama and musical program that is fee-based with the support of parents and volunteers.
MPCSD's Theater Program will include all four of our schools. District leadership will partner with administrators and staff in developing the details of the program. In developing a new theater program, we recognize that new positions must be created and a budget to show how the $310,000 will be utilized. District staff will bring these future items back to the school board for approval.
