K-5th Grade World Language

Program Goal
The goal of the K-5 Spanish Specialist Program is for students to build foundational Spanish language skills, foster a globally-minded school climate and provide multicultural experiences.

Program Structure
In the Spanish Specialist class, instruction is focussed on meaningful, student-centered communication rather than rote memorization of grammar or vocabulary. Students engage in authentic, interactive tasks that mirror how they naturally acquire a first language, supported by comprehensible Spanish in class.

All K–5 students, not in an Immersion class, receive 30–40 minutes of Spanish instruction per week.
