COVID-19 School Reopening FAQ
Menlo Park City School District opened its school year on August 20, 2020 in Distance Learning for all students. However, as health conditions are expected to change frequently, the distict has engaged in planning for various models of providing instruction. It is using guidance from the San Mateo County Office of Education, the San Mateo County Health Department, the California Department of Public Health, and other sources as cited within these Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). On September 10, 2020 the School Board voted to submit a waiver to the San Mateo County Health Department to return kindergarteners and first graders to campus for in-person instruction with a target opening date of September 28.
It is important to understand that the situation around COVID-19 changes often; MPCSD will continue to adjust its planning as county and state health guidance changes. It is also possible that at any time during the 2020-21 school year, health orders will require a shift in approach. We remain nimble and responsive.
