The MPCSD Evaluation System supports both the development and measurement of teaching, with an emphasis on continuous improvement of teacher practice. This purpose aligns with the CTA Teacher Evaluation Framework (May 2017) goal for an evaluation system: “to strengthen the knowledge, skills and practices of teachers to improve student learning” and that “a comprehensive teacher evaluation system must recognize the different purposes of evaluation.”
The primary and secondary purposes of the MPCSD Teacher Evaluation System Prototype are:
Support the development and growth of teacher practice
Provide a means to assess the current level of teacher practice
This evaluation system aims to support ongoing professional growth for teaching in MPCSD through self-assessment, goal-setting, gathering evidence, feedback
and regular reflection.
