EMILY LOWRIE - HUMANITIES CORE TEACHER
Welcome to Hillview!
I am excited to be starting another year teaching at this fabulous school. This year I am teaching 6th grade humanities core (language arts & social studies) with the Everest Academy and Coding as part of the 6th Grade Elective Wheel. I began my career at Menlo School teaching high school English, and over the years I have served as a reading and ELL specialist and taught reading intervention, basic art, ceramics, and, in addition to 6th grade humanities core, 7th grade language arts.
I earned my BS in design with an English minor from UC Davis and a second bachelor's degree in English from CSU Sacramento. I hold a master's degree in education from Stanford University, where I completed the Stanford Teacher Education Program (STEP) with an English single-subject credential as well as supplementary credentials in art and design. In addition, I earned my reading specialist credential from CSU East Bay.
In my spare time, I can be found curled up with a good book, enjoying the outdoors, or cheering Cal's Golden Bears. My husband and I share our home with our two fur kids: Enzo, our Miniature Schnauzer, and Lucy, our lazy orange cat.
The best way to reach me is via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I look forward to a spectacular year!
