JULIE WILLIAMS - HUMANITIES CORE TEACHER

  • Julie Williams

Hello! I am delighted continue my work at Hillview Middle School as a 6th grade Humanities Core teacher with Everest Academy.

Here are a few facts about me: I have had a long career in education. Over sixteen very happy years, I taught history, English, Art History, and Psychology at Aragon High School in San Mateo, where I also coached yearbook and newspaper at various points. In 2002, I left my classroom to focus on raising our two young sons. Over the next ten years, in addition to volunteering extensively in our community, I earned supplemental teaching credentials and also worked as a regular freelance writer for the website Education.com. While finishing my graduate work, I  was honored to work part time as a student teaching field supervisor and adjunct instructor for Notre Dame de Namur University, in Belmont. I was always homesick, however, to return to a school family. Now, with both my sons thriving in school (one in high school, one in college now), here I am!

What is my educational background? I graduated cum laude from Yale University with a bachelor's degree in History and a minor in English. I hold a master's degree in Education from Stanford University, and I later received an additional credential in multisubject K-8 instruction as well as my administrative credential and a second master’s degree in School Administration from Notre Dame de Namur University.

As both parent and professional, I know that sixth grade is a huge change for most kids, and I welcome strong home-school partnership. The best way to reach me is through email at jwilliams@mpcsd.org.
