PTO Afterschool Athletic Teams

    We have 3 after school sports programs here at Encinal Elementary: Girls VolleyballGirls Basketball and Boys Basketball.  Please see the information below for each sport.  Feel free to contact afterschoolathletics@encinalschool.com with any questions.


    GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

    Girls Volleyball is open to ANY and ALL 4th and 5th grade girls at any skill level.

    • There will be a Mandatory Player Evaluation Day on Friday, September 9, 2016, from 3:00 - 5:00 pm in the large multi.  Everyone makes a team.

    • Teams will be coached by parent volunteers.

    • Practices are held at Encinal School on Sunday, Mondays, and Wednesdays depending on coach and player availability. Games are played at the Menlo Park Arrillaga Family Gym on Thursdays.

    • The league runs from the beginning of September to Thanksgiving.

     

    GIRLS BASKETBALL & BOYS BASKETBALL (3rd, 4th, 5th graders only)

    Teams will be playing in the Menlo Park Recreation League competing against other area schools and other Encinal teams. This is a fun, developmental league and no basketball experience is necessary to play.  All Encinal teams will be comprised of players with balanced skills and experience levels.  All coaches are parent or teacher volunteers.

    • The registration period for the 2016-2017 season is from October 9-24, 2016.  You can register on Sportability.com by following this link:

    • There will be a Mandatory Player Evaluation Day on November 7 and 8, 2016, in the large multi.  Everyone makes a team.

    • Teams will be coached by parent volunteers.

    • Practices will begin in mid-November; teams will practice twice per week. Games will begin the week of December 1 and go through early March 2017.  All games are played at the Menlo Park Arrillaga Family Gym.

    Volunteers/Coaches are needed to support the teams and make the program viable.  Parents are asked to volunteer for one of the following: 1) Coach, 2) Assistant Coach, or 3) Team Parent.  All coaches and assistant coaches are required to sign a code of conduct, liability release and submit fingerprints to the School District.  Please include your preference for coaching on sportability.com during registration and contact trobbins@savoyip.com to confirm.
