Public Engagement Accommodations for March 26, 2020 Board Meeting


  • In light of the current Public Health Emergency, the Board decided to hold its March 26 meeting by teleconference. Governor Newsom recently issued an order that relaxed some of the Brown Act’s requirements for teleconferencing but emphasized that government agencies must still provide the public with a meaningful way to participate in public meetings.

    MPCSD values the health and safety of our community, elected officials, and staff. We also very much value the public’s need and right to meaningfully participate and comment in public proceedings. MPCSD had every intention of providing a physical location for members of the public to view and participate in the March 26 Board meeting. However, in light of the March 16th Shelter in Place order for San Mateo County and the serious health risks that members of the public could face by gathering together in one room, MPCSD has decided to instead provide the public with a link to join via Zoom.

    To that end, below please find the Zoom link for the Board’s March 26 meeting, which will allow you to participate in the open session portion of the meeting. Additionally, the meeting will be recorded and staff will be available to receive real-time comments via the email address: info@mpcsd.org. Comments received during the open session of the meeting will be shared publicly during the meeting. The virtual meeting will be recorded, the video of which will be posted within 24 hours of the meeting’s conclusion.

    The agenda for the meeting includes no action items. It is simply a meeting for the staff to share updates with the Board regarding the District’s response to the Public Health Crisis and for the Board to ask questions and offer direction to me as the Superintendent.
